| Faxon’s Outdoor Power Equipment is different. We are governed by “The Golden Rule” and try to treat our customers the way we would like to be treated. We are one of the largest dealers in the state but we have not lost our personal touch. We understand that when we sell a piece of equipment we are partnered with the customer for the life of their equipment. Our goal is to assist our customers in making the right purchase and to win their loyalty through first rate parts and service support. | |

![]() David Faxon IIIPresident |
Dave is the president of Faxon’s Outdoor Power Equipment. The story of Dave and the start of Faxon’s is listed below in “Our Story.” Dave is a Bowling Green High School graduate and a United States Air Force Veteran. He wasn’t smart enough to become a pilot so he served as an aircraft armament systems specialist which is a big name for bomb loader. Dave’s daughter Heather is a WKU graduate and a teacher’s aide. His wife Gwen is employed by Gary Force Honda. He enjoys deer/turkey hunting and golf but is not very good at either one. |
![]() Jeremy ChapmanGeneral Manager |
Jeremy started at Faxon’s in January of 2002 as a salesman and is now the general manager. He has over 15 years of experience in dealing with outdoor power equipment. Jeremy graduated from Bowling Green High School and went onto WKU and graduated with a degree in agriculture. He grew up on the family farm where he learned family values and a strong work ethic. Jeremy is married to Sara and they have two of the cutest little girls you’ve ever seen, Kaitlyn and Allie. Let’s hope they grow up to look like their momma. Jeremy enjoys hunting, camping, and playing guitar. |
![]() Sheila GrenkeOffice Manager |
Shelia actually started working for Dave’s mom and dad at the Western Auto Store before she came to work for Dave in 1992. She’s proof that Dave can keep a woman around; he just has to pay her. Shelia is both bookkeeper and office manager at Faxon’s. She is the “go to person” -- the one who has the answers when no one else can figure it out. Shelia and her husband Herb have four daughters, Amelia, Stephanie, Casey, Kimberly, and three grandchildren. Shelia says her hobbies are keeping Herb out of trouble and spending time with her grandkids. |
![]() Brian WilliamsService Manager |
Brian started at Faxon’s in May of 2005 as a technician and became the service manager in May of 2006. He is Kohler Expert Certified and attends all manufacturers' updates on an annual basis. Brian grew up around equipment helping his father Bobby in his four-wheeler shop in Logansport. He is an excellent welder and fabricator as well. Unlike most service managers Brian is also the lead technician at Faxon’s, being hands-on keeps his skills sharp and allows him to stay on top of the constant changes in technology. Brian and his wife Olivia were married in the summer of 2010. They enjoy hiking and riding four wheelers, Libby (Olivia) even has a pink four wheeler. |
![]() Jason PhelpsService Writer |
Jason was previously employed at Faxon’s as a technician and came back to fill the service writer’s position in March of 2008. His technical skills enable him to communicate well with both the customers and the technicians. Jason enjoys spending time with his wife Kara and daughter Kala as well as building custom mini-trucks and going to car shows. |
![]() Adam WilliamsTechnician |
Adam started at Faxon’s in May of 2007 as a technician. He is a WKU graduate with a degree in agribusiness. He also spent three days at Stihl U.S.A. headquarters in Virginia Beach becoming Stihl Gold Level Certified in August of 2008. Adam was married to his wife Andrea in September of 2008. He is a diesel truck enthusiast and Colts fan. He’s not just a Colt’s fan because they usually have a pretty good team but because he is a true Hoosier from Indiana, we try not to hold that against him. |
![]() Chris WilliamsSales |
Chris is our newest employee and our newest Williams. (None of which are related.) Chris was hired as our parts manager in the spring of 2010. This is not the first time Chris has worked at Faxon’s. Several years ago while attending school he worked part time in the shop as a service writer and couldn’t wait for the opportunity to come back to work for the greatest boss he’d ever had! Chris grew up restoring classic cars and worked at Auto Zone for a couple of years, so he’s very mechanically inclined. Chris also enjoys hiking, camping, and caving. Chris is soon to be married to the lovely Ms. Shelley Pierce, who we hope has at least one sympathetic ear. |
| Our Story ~ | |
Faxon’s Outdoor Power Equipment was established in March of 1992 by David Faxon III. This was not the first Faxon to open a small business in the Bowling Green area. His great grandfather Preston E. Tandy owned a grocery store where Dave Jr. worked as a child. Dave the third enjoys hearing the stories of how his dad would deliver groceries on his bicycle and about how different times were during the post-depression era.Dave the third’s grandfather, David Faxon Sr., opened the Western Auto Store in downtown Bowling Green in 1937. David Jr. worked in the store as a young man and under his ownership built this business in to a very successful cornerstone of the community. It was in this store on 440 E. Main that Dave the third learned his strong work ethic and how to work on small engines. In March of 1992 David Faxon Jr. and his wife Mary Ann decided to retire. Sadly with the big department stores like Sears, Wal-Mart, Lowes, and etc…becoming so popular there was no longer a place in the community for the small locally owned store like Western Auto. Armed with his dad’s loyal customer base and the experience of working on small engines Dave the third opened Faxon’s Outdoor Power Equipment. The business’s first location was a 2500 sq. ft. building at 416 Dishman Lane. Dave rented this building from the Collier family who had previously run a successful outdoor power equipment dealership from this location. Not being able to afford to rent this building and a place to live at the same time Dave converted the backroom into living quarters were he lived, with his dog Otis, for the first two years.
In 1998 the commercial mowing business hit Bowling Green and the surrounding counties. Larger equipment meant Faxon’s needed a larger building. In the fall of 1999 Dave rented a 6,000 sg. ft. building on the corner of 11th and Chestnut. In this building the business flourished and the gross annual sales went from $800,000 to over 2 million by the end of 2004.In 2004 growing pains hit the business again and by the spring of 2005 Faxon’s had purchased the property at their current location and started construction on a 15,000 sq. ft. facility. Construction was completed in November of 2005. As you can imagine Dave was very nervous about this move but at the conclusion of the 2006 the businesses gross sales had grown over $800,000 assuring him that he had made the right move. Today Faxon’s sales will average between 3 – 3.7 million depending on the weather. They have over 8,000 sq. ft. of equipment on display which is one of the largest in the area. They employ twelve plus employees. Jeremy Chapman (General Manger) has been with Dave for over five years now and in Dave’s own words “he does a better job of running the business than I do”. Shelia Grenke has been with Dave since day one and even worked for Dave’s dad at Western Auto. “She watches my money like it was her own” Faxon said. Dave also goes on to talk about the guys who remind him the most of himself “we’ve got the best crew in the shop we have ever had, these guys are the back bone of this business, and Brian Williams (service manager) is one of the most gifted mechanics I’ve ever seen, he also takes matters more personally than I do.” Faxon went on to say that he has accomplished about all he is able to and that now it is up to his employees to step the business up to the next level. |
